Striper Striper Striper!

The striper are schooled up hard right now, and they are readily feeding on anything in their path! The majority of our fish are being caught on live bait, but they can also be caught on a wide variety of lures. If you’re looking for a real challenge, these fish also put up a great fight on a fly rod. Most of these fish average 20-24 inches, but we are seeing a few more keepers this year than in the past.

Pictured above is Shayna McGill (Chapel Hill) with a nice fish that fell for live bait on October 21st. The striper bite should remain strong into November and December, so come out and enjoy this awesome fishing opportunity while it is at it’s peak!

Kerr Lake monster blue!

As the water cools down, the big fish bite is heating up! I’ve heard of several citation blues being caught in the last couple weeks, including this 77 pounder that was caught and released last Saturday. The fish was boated by Brian Blair and Mark Lewis of Chatham, VA. Brian is an avid catfish angler and has been pursuing monster cats at Kerr Lake for the last 8 years. Congrats to these guys on the fish of a lifetime, and thanks for safely releasing the fish so that it can continue to grow!
