Thanks!
I’ve been out with Wes on Kerr Lake several times in the past year. No matter how the fishing goes, we always have a blast. Most trips we catch plenty of smaller cats, but I was always big cat kryptonite until our last time out. Cap’t moved us to a spot where he had done well in a recent tournament. We were still working on getting all the lines out when the rod behind me bent straight over! A few minutes later, I was posing for pictures with a 37-pound blue, by far a personal best. Not 10 minutes later, we land an 18-pounder.
Fishing at Kerr Lake gives you a chance to land a world record catfish. It’s no exaggeration and it’s a claim that very few bodies of water can make. But due to its sheer size, trying to find those monsters is impossible if you don’t have someone who understands the lake.
Every time we go out, Wes talks about something else he’s learned or another part of the lake he’s fished. He puts his time in on the water and stays in regular contact with many other successful catfish anglers. In short, Wes knows what he’s doing. He does his homework and seems to genuinely enjoy helping people catch fish. If you want a legit chance to catch some nice catfish, I would highly recommend giving redbeardcats a try. You will NOT be disappointed.
I’ve been out with Redbeard twice now, and, man, that guy knows how to get on top of the fish! On each trip, everyone in the boat caught a sampling of just about every species in the lake. Wes seemed to know exactly where to take you, and I’ve never seen anybody better at throwing a cast net.
The last time I went with him to Kerr lake, both guests in the boat landed their PB catfish (one at 37lbs. and mine at a measly 18lbs.) Both were caught immediately after Wes put us in, with only about a 10 minute gap between the two CPRs.
As much fun as we did have with all the catching, both trips were highlighted mostly by the good time we had out on the water. Wes is a friendly guide, and he can accommodate just about any level of fisherman. You will definitely get your money’s worth.
My son and I went fishing with Redbeard Saturday May 2. We had a blast and caught good numbers of fish. Redbeard and his partner are great to go fishing with. They are professional and just a lot of fun. We will definitely go with these guys again. Any one looking to go catch some fish and have a good time doing so should look into going with these guys. Great Time.
Went out with Redbeard for the second time Saturday and I am completely hooked. We drifted this time and the weather was a bit off, but we still had a blast. I brought my Uncle with me and he had a great time also. We caught a few nice size blue catfish and an keeper stripper. Boy will those taste good this week.
Truly can’t wait to go again and again and again! I am an avid outdoors man who almost stopped fishing and hunting because of the time, hassles and cost. Fishing was always my favorite sport and now it is again. There is never have a problem with any of the things that stopped me now and this is a fantastic deal with a great guide. Wes has made fishing a true pleasure again and I thank him for that.
You can’t go wrong with Redbeard (just save spot for me from time to time)! 🙂
I booked a trip with Wes in July 2016 as a Anniversary gift for my husband-I sent him fishing with his Dad, brother, and a good friend of ours. We camp at Lake Kerr State Recreation/County Line Area 1 and Wes was able to pick them up at the boat dock at our campground (super convenient)! My husband and family have been on several fishing trips to Lake Erie so I was a bit nervous for them to try something new. They ended up having an awesome time and caught 20+ fish! They kept the smaller fish and we had an amazing fish fry at our camp! They are still talking about what a great time they had and want to make this a yearly tradition!
